The teaser poster for "Minions & Monsters" (directed by Pierre Coffin, opening August 7th, US release July 1st), the latest installment in the "Despicable Me" and "Minions" animated film series which boasts a cumulative worldwide box office revenue of $5.6 billion (approximately 890 billion yen), was released on April 15th. In addition, the first set of bonus items for the limited-quantity advance movie ticket (card) has also been decided.
This film is the latest from Illumination, the studio behind "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie" and others. Approximately four years after "Minions: The Rise of Gru" was released in 2022, the Minions return to the big screen as the main characters.
The Minions, who have been wandering since prehistoric times in search of the strongest and most evil boss, finally arrive in Hollywood, the "movie capital." By chance, they sneak into a movie studio and excitedly decide to make their own "monster movie"! They summon a real monster, but... what appears is a Goomy, a green monster even smaller than the Minions, which was completely unexpected. The Minions wreak havoc, causing unpredictable and chaotic chaos.
The released teaser poster features James, a new Minion introduced in this film. Standing alone, he gazes upwards at something gigantic that seems to spill out of the screen. The visually striking image, a blend of eeriness and humor, hints at the start of a new and unprecedented adventure. The tagline, "Kaiju?", sparks speculation about the true identity of the gigantic entity, suggesting the biggest incident in Minions history.
Furthermore, the first limited-quantity bonus item for advance movie tickets (cards) has been revealed. The bonus item is a special "marker tag" that is a super-miniature version of the poster, reproducing even the smallest details of the "giant something" that James is looking up at, which was so striking in the teaser visual. It's an item that lets you carry around the impressive visual as is. The price is 1600 yen for adults and 900 yen for children, and it will go on sale on April 24th.
