Jazz singer Chie Ayado (68) appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on July 2nd, where she revealed that she had fractured her hip for an unexpected reason after undergoing hip surgery.
At the beginning of the show, Ayado played the program's theme song on the piano and then sat down with a smile. When Tetsuko asked her, "You were walking just now, are you completely fine now?", Ayado, who had undergone hip surgery, replied, "Well, somehow the bone has healed, and I can now think of it as my own bone."
She fractured her bone just two days before being discharged from the hospital after surgery. "This is a warning from above about my personality. It's a message to take proper care of myself. But I kept saying 'heal quickly, heal quickly' and overdid the rehabilitation, and fractured my spine. It snapped when I bent forward," she explained. The fracture required her to stay in the hospital for another month.
She even recorded while wearing a corset. Her son, Isa, was a great support, and she laughed as she mentioned, "He helped me put my pants on!" She can now walk properly and has recovered enough to perform concerts.
"I'm grateful that I can walk. I think I need to understand my age and live in a way that suits my age," said Ayato. "I've made nothing but mistakes since my debut, so I hope I can move forward while thinking, 'Oh, that happened.' I think that's what life is like after turning 60, so I feel like the final destination is still far away."
