The first episode of the TV Tokyo drama series "Couple and 16-Year-Old ~The Mad Neighbor~" (Thursdays at 12:30am), starring actress Rino Katase and Issei Mamehara of the global boy group "JO1," will air on July 2nd at midnight. The preview introduces the story with lines such as "Is this pure love, or something else?", "She fell in love with the handsome husband next door," and "What awakened was a love of madness."
The drama is based on the manga of the same name by Pumpkin, which is serialized independently on the manga app "Shonen Jump+." It is a romantic horror story filled with madness, in which a 61-year-old woman who "identifies as a 16-year-old beautiful girl" moves in next door to a newlywed couple and falls in love at first sight. Despite knowing that the man is married, she thinks "If you love him, then take him" and tries all sorts of romantic schemes.
Katase plays Shiraishi Yoshiko, a 61-year-old woman who considers herself a 16-year-old beauty and falls in love with her younger, handsome neighbor; Mamehara plays Nomura Hiro, a kind-hearted, handsome office worker who is instantly smitten by her crazy neighbor; Yui Okada plays Nomura Sae, Hiro's wife and a bright and energetic former hostess; and Hayashi Meari plays the "ideal 16-year-old beauty Shiraishi Yoshiko" that 61-year-old Shiraishi Yoshiko has created in her mind.
In the first episode, Shiraishi Yoshiko (Katase), who has just started living alone, moves into the apartment next door to Nomura Hiro (Mamehara) and his wife Sae (Okada), where they are enjoying their newlywed life. Yoshiko falls in love at first sight with the handsome and kind Hiro, and even though she knows he is married, she begins to deepen her relationship with him by sharing her home-cooked meals with him. Seeing their behavior, Sae suspects an affair, but Hiro dismisses it with a "That's impossible"...
