At the same time, Naomi (Uesaka) and Ogawa (Kai Shoma) end up eating dango in the courtyard of the hospital by chance. Then, one day, Rin learns of a promise made between Yamamoto (Honda Daisuke), who is about to undergo surgery, and his wife, Tei (Ise Kayo).
While the level of attention on this day was low at the beginning, it hovered around the high 60s from the middle of the day onward, and there were several times when it reached the 70s.
◇Ogawa approaches Naomi directly while eating dango.
The peak of attention for the 69th episode was recorded at 70.5% at 8:07 and 8:08 AM. The first 30 seconds or so of the 8:07 AM segment were the final part of the conversation between Naomi and Ogawa while they were eating dango. Ogawa suddenly began to speak of his "love" directly, saying, "I'll come to see you again, landlady (Naomi)," to which Naomi coldly retorted, "I don't feel that way..." and then tried to leave, saying, "Excuse me, I'm intruding." The 8:07 AM segment began with the words Ogawa spoke at that moment.
"So, what should we do...?" Naomi burst out laughing and said, "What, you're asking me that?" to which he replied, "Okay, I understand. Let's be friends." Ogawa is quite something to win over Naomi like that.
Incidentally, Ogawa, unaware that his friend had been discharged from the hospital, brought dango (rice dumplings) to visit him. He then invited Naomi to join him in eating the dango together. When Naomi asks, "You didn't know he was discharged?", Ogawa makes a big fuss, shouting "What?!" The scene in which Ogawa appears (8:04 AM) also garnered a high rating of 69.9%.
◇What is Yamamoto's medical condition? Surprisingly serious.
From the latter half of 8:07 AM onwards, the scene depicts Yamamoto (Daisuke Honda), who had been hospitalized, being discharged after undergoing cancer surgery. Rin manages to arrive just in time and sees Yamamoto off with Naomi. He seems happy, saying that he and his wife, Tei (Kayo Ise), will be going out for their traditional beef hot pot on the day of the fireworks. Yamamoto had always been a boastful person, but on this day he doesn't lie.
At around 8:08 AM, the scene jumps forward three months, still using the same angle as when Rin saw him off in the hallway. The sound of cicadas fills the air, suggesting it's summer. Yamamoto returns to the hospital, accompanied by Tei. Yamamoto laughs and says, "The fireworks day is approaching, so please make sure I can eat beef hot pot by then. I'm sure I'll be fine since it's just gastroenteritis."
Yamamoto underwent further surgery, and the program ended around the time he woke up from anesthesia. The latter half focused on Yamamoto and his wife, but as the seriousness of his condition became increasingly clear, the program's popularity never dropped below the high 60% range.
