The poster visual for "Draft King -BORDER LINE-," the drama series starring actor Tsuyoshi Muro, which will begin airing on May 15th, has been released. In addition, the second trailer has been released on the official WOWOW YouTube channel.
"Draft King" is a popular manga series by Tetsuro Kuromatsu, known for works such as "Be-Kaku" and "A Bouquet for the Baseball Club," currently serialized in "Grand Jump" (Shueisha). In 2023, it was broadcast and streamed on WOWOW, depicting the story of Aura Gohara, a scout for the "Yokohama Baygoals" played by Muro, who uses his keen eye to try and acquire the number one draft pick. This "Draft King -BORDER LINE-" is a sequel to that, depicting the passionate battles of people standing on the "borderline" of their baseball careers, supported by their families and friends.
The released poster visual shows Muro, who plays Gohara, and Hio Miyazawa, who plays Kamiki Ryosuke, a young man striving to draft his first player, both looking towards the future with Yokohama Stadium in the background. The composition is striking, with the two men's eyes being particularly striking. The empty field, bathed in the light of the night game, symbolizes not the glamorous spotlight, but the world of calm and harsh choices that are made behind the scenes.
Furthermore, the cast includes Denden as Shimobe Rikio, the head of the scouting department to which Gohara and Kamiki belong; Kamiji Yusuke as Otsu Ryosuke, Kamiki's reliable confidant; Ibu Masato as Dokushima Ryuji, a highly skilled veteran scout who is Gohara's rival and nemesis; Miura Takahiro as Nakagomi Seiji, who appears in this film as Gohara's new nemesis; Taisei Kido as Kitabatake Sho, a talented high school pitcher who is attracting attention; and Sato Kanta as Yanagawa Daiya, an outfielder who boasts natural athletic ability.
The second trailer features a compilation of the best episodes drawn by the original author, Tetsuro Kuromatsu, that will be broadcast and streamed in this series.
"Draft King -BORDER LINE-" will air and stream on WOWOW Prime and WOWOW On Demand every Friday at 11 PM, starting May 15th. It will consist of 10 episodes.
