An event for the new TV anime "Ascendance of a Bookworm: The Lord's Adopted Daughter," based on the popular light novel "Shosetsuka ni Naro of a Bookworm: I'll Do Anything to Become a Librarian," which is popular on the novel submission site "Shosetsuka ni Narou," was held on March 28th at "AnimeJapan 2026," the world's largest anime event, currently taking place at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto Ward, Tokyo). Voice actress Yuka Iguchi, who plays the main character Rosemaine, made an appearance. With the new anime, the first in about four years, set to air from April, Iguchi smiled and said, "It's finally starting! I'm so excited. I can't wait for everyone to see it!"
Iguchi said that Rosemaine "has the power to push forward on her own," and explained her appeal by saying, "She has gone through a lot of trial and error, but I think her charm lies in the fact that she grows little by little with the support of many people."
The event also featured Show Hayami, who plays Ferdinand, Yuichiro Umehara, who plays Damuel, and Asami Seto, who plays Brigitte. Seto, who is appearing in the new "Ascendance of a Bookworm" for the first time, reflected on the recording, saying, "It was peaceful, warm, and fun!" Iguchi revealed, "Hayami-san talks to all the cast members. He's also a rapper, so he rhymes..." to which Hayami responded by rapping, "Brigitte, just go for it..."
The series is a light novel written by Miya Katsuki and illustrated by Yu Shiina. It tells the story of Urano Motosu, a girl living in modern Japan who dies on the very day she gets her dream job at a library. She then regains consciousness as Myne, a young girl in another world ruled by magical nobles, and struggles to obtain books. The series has sold over 13 million copies. The first season of the TV anime aired from October to December 2019, the second season from April to June 2020, and the third season from April to June 2022.
"Ascendance of a Bookworm: The Lord's Adopted Daughter" follows Myne as she chooses to live as Rosemaine, the lord's adopted daughter, in order to protect her family and friends in the lower town. Produced by WIT STUDIO, known for works such as "SPY×FAMILY" and "Attack on Titan Season 3," the anime features voice acting by Yuka Iguchi as Rosemaine and Show Hayami as Ferdinand. It will air on Yomiuri TV and the Nippon Television Network nationwide every Saturday at 5:30 PM starting April 4th, for two consecutive seasons.
