It has been announced that "Level Robotica," an original futuristic sci-fi anime set in Shibuya in 2050, will air in 2027. Mika Pikazo is in charge of the story concept and character designs for the anime, and a teaser visual has been released showing a mysterious girl named Lily standing in the Shibuya Scramble Crossing. Shin Oonuma will serve as general director, Ryo Yoshigami will be in charge of series composition, and Yuki Kajiura will be in charge of the theme and insert songs. A teaser PV featuring an insert song composed by Yuki Kajiura has also been released. It shows Shibuya Scramble Crossing, Hachiko Square, and the subway platform at Shibuya Station, depicting how MR (Mixed Reality), a virtual technology that blends virtual reality and the real world, is used on a daily basis. Thanks to the dramatic advancements in information technology, Shibuya has become the city with the highest "happiness index" in the world, where a mysterious girl named Lily appears.
"RE:BEL ROBOTICA" was originally published in 2017 as a personal work (doujinshi) by Mika Pikazo, and "RE:BEL ROBOTICA Episode #β (Beta)" was also published in collaboration with screenwriter Ryo Yoshigami. In 2022, two novels, "RE:BEL ROBOTICA 0" and "RE:BEL ROBOTICA," were released. The anime inherits the worldview of the original work while developing a new, original story.
Director Onuma commented, "While we've borrowed the worldview of the original work, this film is a bit unusual in that the story is completely new. However, we've been able to go into much more depth in terms of drama and emotional expression. We're trying various things to see how we can best translate Mika's beautiful and delicate expressions into visuals, and we hope to bring it all together. We appreciate your support!"
Series composition writer Yoshigami said, "What we aimed for in the anime adaptation of 'Level Robotica' was to reflect the extraordinary creativity of the original author, Mika Pikazo, which continues to stimulate the emotions of viewers, throughout the entire work. From lines, colors, and effects to the story, character drama, and dialogue, we have had many conversations and gone through a lot of trial and error to ensure that Mika's sensibility is embodied in everything, and we are creating 'Level Robotica' together with general director Shin Oonuma.
