A side story to the popular TBS Sunday drama "VIVANT" (Sundays at 9 PM), starring actor Masato Sakai, which will begin its second season on July 26th, titled "Drum - VIVANT THE ORIGIN STORY -", will be available for streaming on U-NEXT starting on the 12th.
The story is a completely original one that focuses on Drum, a character who, as a colleague of Hiroshi Abe(played by Megumi Hayashibara. This work depicts Drum's past and, as the title suggests, is the story of the "beginning" of "VIVANT."
On the 5th, the main visual was released. It shows the brothers Drum and Maddie, who appear in the film, running across a field with smiles on their faces.
Additionally, Ryohei Otani has been cast as David, Drum and Maddie's father, and Ginji Watanabe of the comedy duo "Don Decorte" will play Zaul, David's younger brother. This will be Watanabe's first drama appearance, whether on terrestrial television or as an original streaming drama.

Many people are probably curious about Drum's past and childhood. Because of his unique character, I too was intrigued as I read the script.
In this film, I play the father of two children, Drum and Maddie. While enjoying trying out new hairstyles and outfits, I focused on portraying the father's character, paying close attention to how he interacts with his children and the overall atmosphere of the role, so as to add a little something special to this heartwarming story. I hope you will enjoy the film and find out the origin of Drum's name and what kind of childhood he and Maddie had.

My name is Watanabe Ginji, from the comedy duo Don Decorte. I had been a complete flop for 18 years until the end of last year, but I was incredibly honored to be able to visit the set of "VIVANT." I'm embarrassed to admit that I don't even have a passport, so I never imagined that my first time abroad would be the Valka Republic. I am extremely honored.
The character I played, Zaul, was a bundle of inferiority complexes, just like me. "He was probably a talented person, but I wonder if it was because of his older brother, or his family, or something else." Before I knew it, I was captivated by the work. I am extremely happy to have been a part of such a work, and I would be even happier if you enjoy this work.

This story originally started as a spin-off of "VIVANT." However, as I was writing the script, it became a grand story on a much larger scale than a typical spin-off. Also, since it tells the origin story of "why Drum became Drum," a character that is now indispensable to "VIVANT," I titled it "VIVANT THE ORIGIN STORY."
The story's motif is "Harry Potter," which also appeared in the first season. Characters like Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Malfoy come alive in this story. We hope you'll take a look at the beginning of "VIVANT" before the start of the second season!
And... actually, we have other series planned for "VIVANT THE ORIGIN STORY." The announcement will be a little later, but we hope you'll look forward to those as well!
