One day, his mentor, Professor Iwamizaki (Masana Bokuzo), asks him to perform DNA testing on 200-year-old human remains excavated at Lake Rupukund in India, and he discovers that the DNA of the remains is a 100% match of the missing Shiori. The DNA match, the mysterious deaths of those involved, the stolen remains, the vanished memories of the past...all of these elements begin to connect in a single thread.
Episode 1 begins with... Nanase Yu, a graduate student studying genetics, standing in front of the funeral home for his stepsister, Shiyo, who went missing in a torrential downpour four years ago. He has come to stop the funeral being conducted by his stepfather, Nanase Kyoichi (played by Sasaki Kuranosuke), the president of the major pharmaceutical company, Hiei Pharmaceutical. Shiyo went missing on the day of the torrential downpour four years ago. However, Yu had seen Shiyo afterward and believed she was still alive.
Around that time, Yu was asked by his mentor, Professor Iwamizaki, to perform DNA testing on ancient human remains. These were 200-year-old human remains excavated from Lake Rupukund in India. There was a rumor among the locals that "anyone who takes bones from Lake Rupukund will be cursed," but Yu decided to take on the job.
However, when Yu analyzed the bones, the results were astonishing. The DNA that was analyzed matched 100% with that of his missing stepsister, Shiyo. The bones were indeed 200 years old. Yet the DNA matched Shiyo's. Feeling nauseous at this inexplicable mystery, Yu sets out to uncover the truth. Then, Ishimizaki's niece, Yui (played by Shiraishi Sei), appears before Yu and reveals an unexpected fact...
