The end credits sequence for "Tom and Jerry: The Magic Compass of Time" (distributed by Clockworks, currently showing), the latest animated film in the popular "Tom and Jerry" series, was released on June 5th. The video features a surprise appearance by the series' familiar and adorable characters.
"Tom and Jerry" is a slapstick comedy short animated series featuring the world's most famous cat, Tom, and mouse, Jerry, as they engage in all sorts of chases in each episode. It celebrated its 85th anniversary in 2025.
The latest theatrical film in the series, the first to be fully 3DCG, tells the story of Tom and Jerry, who are playing their usual game of chase in a museum. Suddenly, they accidentally activate an ancient artifact on display, the "Star Compass," and are transported through time in a dazzling light. They arrive in the "Golden City," a different world thousands of years in the past, inhabited by a phoenix sage and unique guardian beasts. There, they find themselves in danger from the evil Rat King, who seeks to conquer the world with the power of the compass. In order to return to their own time, Tom and Jerry call a temporary truce and embark on a grand adventure as a duo in the face of an unprecedented crisis...

An adorable end-credits sequence, only viewable by those who watch the film to the end, has been specially released. Unlike the main film, which is rendered in full 3DCG, this sequence features a slideshow of newly drawn 2D illustrations that evoke a sense of nostalgia and warmth, set to a relaxed tempo of rap music.
In the first slide, Tom is shown sitting on the roof of one of the buildings scattered throughout the Golden City, pretending to be a "vertebrate," a traditional roof decoration. In front of him is the figure of Jade (Yurika Kubo), the Peking Opera performer whom Tom falls in love with at first sight in the film. The image is emotionally portrayed as Tom gazes at Jade, who is bathed in the evening light, with an enraptured smile on his face, captivated by her overwhelming splendor and dignified presence.
The next slide shows a greedy illustration of Jerry happily devouring his favorite cheese on a cloud. It also includes a comical moment of Tom, who is working as a security guard at a museum, getting severely scolded by his boss, as a consequence of what happened after they returned to their own world after time-traveling.
Furthermore, popular characters who do not appear in the main film make a surprise appearance. An illustration shows Tuffy, the little mouse whose trademark is his diaper, wearing the traditional costume of the Golden City and flashing an adorable smile, while Jerry also has a happy expression next to him.
Also appearing are Spike, Tom's most feared and most formidable guard dog, and his son, Tyke. The father and son exude an intimidating aura, as if to say, "We won't show mercy to anyone who gets in the way of me and my son!", and the familiar scene of Tom looking terrified is sure to bring a smile to your face.
The Phoenix Immortal and his guardian beasts, who played a prominent role in the film, as well as his top disciple Jade, appear as 2D illustrations. You can catch a glimpse of the fun life in the Golden City after Tom and Jerry's departure, as they launch fireworks with their magical powers, open lively food stalls, and Jade performs a Peking Opera dance to thunderous applause.
The final slide is an emotional scene of Tom and Jerry standing side by side, watching the Phoenix Hermit and his guardian beasts happily playing in an amusement park, and the video concludes with the memorable riff from the theme song sung by Mashiwei: "Turn on the TV and it's Tom and Jerry, tomorrow will be a better day so smile."
