It has been revealed that Saori Hayami will voice Emeraude in the new TV anime adaptation of " Magic Knight Rayearth ," a popular manga by the manga creation group "CLAMP." It was also announced that Yuki Ono will voice Zagato and Mika Kikuchi will voice Mokona. This will be the first new anime in approximately 29 years since the OVA (Original Video Animation) "Rayearth" released in 1997, and the first TV anime series to be broadcast in approximately 31 years since the previous series aired from 1994 to 1995.
Emeraude is the princess of Cephiro and, as a "pillar," constantly prays for the peace and order of Cephiro and protects the world. When Cephiro is on the brink of collapse, she summons the Magic Knights for help. Hayami said, "I have been deeply moved and given a lot of strength by CLAMP's stories, characters, and lines countless times. I am truly honored to be able to participate in the Reiwa era's ' Magic Knight Rayearth.' With respect for this long-loved work in my heart, I approached the recording with the trustworthy cast members, striving to convey Princess Emeraude's delicate emotions through my voice. I hope you will look forward to the broadcast."
Zagato was a priest (Sol) who protected Princess Emeraude, but he is also said to have plotted the destruction of Cephiro and imprisoned Princess Emeraude , and he ordered the elimination of the Magic Knights. Ono said, "That! Rayearth's!! Zagato!!! The bar was set very high from the audition stage, but I felt it was a challenge, so I was especially happy when I heard that I had passed. There are many things that I shouldn't talk about here, but I would like to portray him while staying close to his own 'wish'. I would be grateful if you would watch it."
Kikuchi, who plays Mokona, the creature that accompanies the Magic Knights on their journey, commented: "Mokona Modoki from 'Tsubasa Chronicle' was the beginning of my voice acting career. Looking back, it feels like it went by in a flash, but before I knew it, more than 20 years had passed. I had always hoped to meet Mokona again someday, and I never imagined it would actually happen! Mokona always gives me courage and energy. I am on a new journey with the three Magic Knights, who are so pure, strong, and beautiful that they take my breath away, and I would be happy if you would watch over us warmly. My heart is the same now as it was then, and I will continue to perform with sincerity. Please look forward to it."
It was also announced that the world premiere of episodes 1 and 2 will be held at "Anime Expo 2026," an anime event to be held in Los Angeles, USA. Rie Takahashi , who plays Fuu Hououji Hououji, and Hayami, who plays Emeraude , will be in attendance.
The new anime will be directed by Yui Miura, with series composition by Shigeru Murakoshi, character design by Satomi Watanabe, and music by Yuki Kajiura, Takumi Ozawa, and Shiho Terada. It will be produced by E&H production, the animation studio led by director Sunghoo Park, who worked on the first season of the TV anime " Jujutsu Kaisen" and "Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie." The main cast playing the three main Magic Knights will be Ayane Sakura as Hikaru Shidou Ayane Sakura, Rumi Okubo as Umi Ryuuzaki, and Takahashi as Fuu Hououji. It will air on TV Asahi's anime block "IMAnimation W" every Wednesday at 11:45 PM starting in October.
"Magic Knight Rayearth " is a legendary fantasy adventure manga by CLAMP that was serialized in the shojo manga magazine "Nakayoshi" ( Fuu Hououji ) from 1993 to 1995. The story follows three girls, Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki , and Fuu Hououji, who are suddenly summoned to the other world of Cephiro by Princess Emeraude while on a field trip to Tokyo Tower. To rescue the captured princess, they become legendary Magic Knights.
The TV anime series, produced by Tokyo Movie (now TMS Entertainment), aired from 1994 to 1995, and the theme song, " Yuzurenai Negai " sung by Naomi Tamura, was a huge hit, selling over 1 million copies on CD. In 1997, a three-episode OVA (Original Video Animation) was released.
