Luna (Haru) is begged by her mother (Mako Ishino) to decipher the password to her father's (Ryo Ishibashi) PC, with whom she has had a long-standing feud. Reluctantly, Luna involves Ryoko (Aso) and embarks on a new "literary quest." However, the only clue to deciphering the password is the cover of "I Am a Cat" displayed on the screen.
Seeking clues, the two visit the home of Yoshizawa (Toru Nomaguchi), a leading expert on Natsume Soseki. There, Ryoko reunites with Yoshizawa's wife, Satsuki (Kumiko Endo), with whom she was once a badminton partner. Ryoko, who both aimed for the Olympics but failed, and Satsuki, who achieved her dream, are reunited by chance, and a complex mix of emotions swirls between them.
Meanwhile, police officers visit the Yoshizawa home and inform them that Yoshizawa's son, Ryunosuke, is suspected of making a bomb threat in a nearby park. They also tell Luna that Ryunosuke has recently been engaging in inexplicable behavior, such as stealing bread and buying and discarding large quantities of beef and stuffed animals. Luna realizes that there is a desperate message hidden behind his repeated bizarre actions...
