Actor Shinya Kote will appear as a guest on the MBS talk variety show "Tsukai! Akashiya TV" airing at 3 PM on April 25th, where he will reveal his connections within the entertainment industry.
The program looks back on the career of Kote, who achieved a breakthrough at the age of 45 with his captivating performance in the drama "Confidence Man JP" (Fuji TV). He founded the theater company "innerchild" in 1998, but recalls being in "debt hell" due to his unsuccessful part-time job life. He reveals that he continued working part-time jobs until 2019, even after his breakthrough with "Confidence Man JP" in 2018, which elicits surprised reactions from the studio audience.
After his breakthrough, he received more offers to appear on variety shows, but he confessed that he had a bitter experience when he co-starred with MC Akashiya Sanma on "Honma Dekka!? TV" (Fuji TV). He blurted out, "I'm really bad at variety shows," which made Sanma burst into laughter.
During a discussion about "Confidence Man JP," Kote recounted how he and the lead actress, Masami Nagasawa, "went out for dinner together at the end of last year, and then ate soft-serve ice cream in a park at night," to which Sanma exclaimed, "You're kidding!?" When Kote continued, "After that, we went for a walk and had coffee at a cafe...", Sanma interrupted and interjected, "You definitely had ulterior motives, didn't you?"
When asked by an audience member, "Who are your close friends in the entertainment industry?", Kote answered without hesitation, "Masami Nagasawa." Upon hearing an anecdote about Nagasawa consulting him, Sanma slumped his shoulders and said, "I wish someone would consult me like that."
Kote, who says she's "easy for women to talk to about their problems," revealed more of her friendships in the entertainment industry, saying, "I went out to eat with Kyoko Yoshine and Sae Okazaki," which drew a fierce criticism from the jealous Sanma.
