It has been announced that the title of the first original theatrical anime film by director Shingo Natsume, known for the TV anime "Sonny Boy," will be "ghost/Yoru no Hate" (ghost/the end of the night), and that it will be released on February 11, 2027. It was also announced that the band "Hitsujibungaku" will be in charge of the theme song and insert songs. They have written a total of six songs for this film, including the theme song and insert song "Sugar." Musician Oozora Kimishima will be in charge of the film's score.
The first key visual has been released, depicting a fantastical night under a sky full of twinkling stars and two lonely figures. The visual expresses the world of the work, with the protagonist, a black-haired girl (Nike), gazing quietly at the viewer, and a man (Mas) with an umbrella over her back, looking up at the starry sky.
A Teaser trailer featuring Nike has also been released on YouTube. It begins with Nike's words, "Occasionally, very rarely, I encounter something beautiful in the starry sky," and features the insert song "Sugar" by Hitsujibungaku. The trailer then shows striking shots of light and shadow along with the caption, "I want to know the 'truth'."
Director Natsume commented, "Despair and prayer. I want to know the 'truth that cannot be seen with the eye.' This film depicts the trajectory of a 15-year-old girl as she falls into the depths of night. She possesses both sane madness and an overly pure rebellious spirit. The sight of her reaching out for 'the beautiful things that are truly there' in the darkness may appear as despair or something entirely different to each viewer. However, this is also a universal story that stirs the conflicting emotions that everyone hides deep within their hearts. I hope you will search for that faint light on the screen."
The manga adaptation of "ghost/Yoru no Hate" will begin serialization in the September issue of the manga magazine "Young Ace" (KADOKAWA), which goes on sale August 4th.
"ghost/The End of the Night" is a story set in a near future where work is no longer necessary, about a girl who rebels against the order of a contented society while continuing to seek "the real thing." Manga artist Natsume Ono, known for works such as "ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Dept.", is in charge of character design, and Madhouse is producing the animation.
