It has been announced that Naruki's manga "Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun," which is serialized in "Bessatsu Friend" (Kodansha), will be adapted into a TV anime.
This is a love story between Momose Hiro, a clumsy girl who's always being bossed around, and Ichikura Dan, a former delinquent turned straight to being a bespectacled honor student. After a short serialization in 2021, it gained reader support, and after the release of the second volume of the manga, it saw an unprecedented number of reprints, leading to a resumption of serialization in 2022. Ten volumes of the manga have been released, with a cumulative circulation of approximately 1 million copies.
They are proud of it.
The original author, Naruki, commented, "I'm so happy that 'Megane, Tokidoki, Yankee-kun' is being made into an anime! Ever since I was aiming to become a manga artist, I've always thought, 'I'd love to see the characters I draw talk and move someday.' I'm so happy that this dream has come true. This is all thanks to my readers who always support me, thank you so much. I'm also looking forward to the day when we can see Ichikura, Momose, and the others come to life."
Character designs featuring the main characters Ichikura and Momose were all revealed, along with an illustration by Naruki depicting the mysterious creature Ohana-chan.
