Actress Machiko Ono recently appeared at a talk show for the NHK drama "Magudaraya no Maria" held in Suttsu Town, Hokkaido. Suttsu Town is a filming location for the drama, which will begin airing on NHK's Saturday drama slot (NHK General, Saturdays at 10 PM) from April 18th, and Ono spoke about behind-the-scenes stories from the filming.
This drama, a live-action adaptation of Maha Harada's novel of the same name, is a human story that explores the preciousness of life. Ono, who co-stars with Kisetsu Fujiwara, plays Ria Arima, also known as "Maria," who runs the diner "Magudaraya."
Ono revealed, "It has already been broadcast on BS, but I am very happy that it will now be broadcast on NHK General TV." She continued, "Many people may wonder, 'What kind of work is it?' when they hear the title 'Magudaraya no Maria,' but it depicts 'life and death,' which is important to us. As Arima Ria, I put my heart into each and every scene. I did it with the desire to show the wonderfulness of Suttsu Town in Hokkaido, where we filmed, in the best possible light. Please watch it."
