The NTV variety show "Friday Mystery Club!!!" (Fridays at 7 PM), hosted by Kazunari Ninomiya and Nobu of "Chidori," will premiere on April 17th. The two-hour special premiere will feature actor Hiroki Narimiya in a dramatized reenactment of a surprising mystery that actually happened around the world. This will be Narimiya's first acting appearance on terrestrial television in approximately 10 years.
Narimiya plays a journalist who covered the Shenyang Consulate General incident 24 years ago, which shocked all of Japan. The footage he captured of a family, including a 3-year-old girl and her pregnant mother, risking their lives to seek freedom by running into the Japanese Consulate General, shook public opinion and became a sensational scoop that developed into an international issue.
Knowing that his own life was in danger, why did the journalist film the secret defection? How did he do it? Narimiya portrays this Japanese journalist with a compelling performance.
Narimiya commented, "This is a new variety show on Nippon Television, hosted by Kazunari Ninomiya and Nobu of Chidori. It's based on the concept of presenting real-life events as video dramas, and I was honored to participate in the memorable first episode. This time, I played a journalist whose story is based on the 'Shenyang Consulate General North Korean Defector Invasion Incident.' Please be sure to watch it."
