"Tonight's the Unveiling! Sandwichman's Forbidden Showdown," a show where professionals in their respective fields put their pride on the line, will air on Fuji TV's "Saturday Premium" slot (Saturdays at 9 PM) on April 4th. This is the fourth installment of the "showdown" series hosted by the comedy duo "Sandwichman," and this time the show will feature a driving competition between driving instructors, a crane game competition between employees of a development company, and a magic trick-detection contest between magicians.
In the driving competition between driving instructors, the driver not only steers with one hand from the passenger seat, but the accelerator is operated by a blindfolded buddy sitting in the driver's seat. This competition, which requires not only driving skills but also teamwork with your buddy, will be held as a tournament. In the first round, there will be a slalom race through six cones between an assassin from a huge driving school in Osaka and Japan's most famous instructor, and a one-handed parallel parking competition between Japan's top driving expert and a super rookie with only five months of teaching experience. In the final round, the winners will compete in a time trial on a specially prepared 2.8-kilometer course.
In the crane game showdown, employees from the development companies who know the ins and outs of crane games will appear. A Taito employee who became an employee out of his love for crane games will face off against a Bandai Namco employee who was selected from among 10,000 staff members. Various techniques unique to employees will also be showcased.
In the popular magic trick-solving showdown, current world champion Ibuki will face off against magic maverick JONIO. The challenge is "Cups and Balls," said to be the world's oldest magic trick, where contestants must figure out which of the three cups a ball is hidden in. The two are senior and junior in the magic world, so who will win this match? Also, the "Coin Magic Showdown" against the show's defending champion, KiLa, will be a must-watch, as we eagerly await to see what kind of tricks will be performed.
Studio guests Kengo Uchida, Hidetaka Kano, Takumi Kitamura, Kyoko Saito Saito, Rion Tada, Haru (Bullet Train), and Takashi Yoshimura (Heisei Nobushikobushi) will appear to witness the one-on-one battle.
After the show's recording, Kitamura commented, "Every match was very enjoyable, and I felt the greatness of entertainment. It was also interesting to see the previous champion of the show battle against a new challenger. I love cars, and watching the match between the driving instructors made me feel nostalgic for the driving school (laughs)."
Saito also commented, "It was so incredibly fun that I felt like I was watching it on TV myself! During filming, I didn't have to worry about what to say in my comments after the VTRs, because every single challenge was so captivating that I just spoke with genuine excitement because there were so many surprises and moments of emotion. Please enjoy it!"
