It has been announced that the TV anime "PSYREN," based on Toshiaki Iwashiro's supernatural battle action manga serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha), will begin airing in October. It was also announced that the anime will depict the story up to its conclusion.
A second teaser visual featuring all five main characters has also been released. The visual depicts the five characters just before a life-or-death battle begins, and an ominous atmosphere hangs in the air as they show determined, serious expressions. Ageha, in particular, has a relaxed expression, giving a glimpse into each character's personality.
"PSYREN" was serialized from 2008 to 2010 and has maintained its strong popularity even 16 years after its completion, having been nominated three times for the "Manga We Want to See Animated" voting project at "AnimeJapan". The story follows Ageha Yoshiro, a first-year high school student, who gains access to Siren, a secret society rumored to be behind a series of mysterious disappearances occurring nationwide, and begins a life-or-death game...
Katsumi Ono, known for the "Symphogear" series, will direct the anime, which will be produced by Satelight, the studio behind the "Aquarion" and "Macross" series. Rikuya Yasuda will voice the protagonist Ageha Yashina, and Mayuko Kazama.
