Yoko Shogenji of the idol group Hinatazaka46 has been appointed as a promotional ambassador for the TV anime "Snowball Earth," which is based on the manga by Yuichiro Tsuji, currently serialized in "Monthly Spirits" (Shogakukan). Shogenji, who is a fan of anime and manga, also made headlines for providing a comment for the obi (paper band) of the 10th volume of the manga. As a promotional ambassador, she will appear in pre-recorded segments on Nippon Television programs and take on social media projects.
Shogenji commented, "I have been appointed as the promotional ambassador for 'Snowball Earth'! This work, 'Snowball Earth,' is incredibly interesting!! Each character has something they want to protect, love, and it will make you cry and laugh, and the way it balances the comical scenes and battle scenes is superb, so I hope everyone will look forward to it!"
The series is a sci-fi x monster x robot action story set on Snowball Earth, a planet covered in snow and ice. The comic books have sold over 800,000 copies.
The anime will be directed by Munehisa Sakai and produced by Studio KAI. The cast includes Takuto Yoshinaga as Tetsuo Yabusame, Daisuke Hirakawa as Yukio, Ami Koshimizu as Aoi Nogi, and Yoshimi Tamura as Kanon Takimura. It will air on Nippon Television's anime block "FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT" every Friday at 11:30 PM starting April 3rd.
