It has been revealed that Itsumi Osawa, Yasuko Kuwata, Chie Kobayashi, Yuko Kimoto, Yumi Morio, and Akiko Matsumoto, who debuted as idols in 1983, will hold their own self-produced event, "83-nen Gumi Idols Ara!? Kan Live," at Theater 1010 in Kita-Senju, Tokyo on August 22nd.
Ms. Osawa and the others debuted in 1983, and although they now have the air of "landlady" as wives and mothers at home, they still have the heart of idols, and have formed "O-Kami Seven," following the example of Heisei-era idol groups. They have held events in 2018 and 2023.
This time, the six members of the "O-Kami Seven," excluding Junko Tokumaru who lives overseas, have come together. Osawa, Morio, and Matsumoto are all turning 60 this year, and they decided to hold this "Around 60 Live" because they felt they "couldn't wait until their 45th anniversary. Let's get together while the members are still healthy and able to move around!"
Ahead of the event, the third in three years, Morio expressed her enthusiasm, saying, "We, the '83 idol group, were said to be a disappointing group, but our average age is now 60. It would be wonderful if we could have a fun time on stage with everyone who shared the same youth as us, even though we're approaching 60."
