The latest volume (volume 22) of "DEAR BOYS ACT4," the popular basketball manga series by Hiroki Yagami currently serialized in "Monthly Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha), was released on March 17th. This marks the 100th volume in the series, surpassing the milestone approximately 37 years after its serialization began in 1989.
"DEAR BOYS" tells the story of Mizuho High School's boys' basketball team, which had been suspended after a violent incident left only four members. However, the team is revived when Kazuhiko Aikawa, the former captain of the prestigious Tendoji High School basketball team, transfers to the school and joins, and they fight to become national champions. The series began serialization in 1989, and "ACT II," "ACT 3," and "OVER TIME" have been serialized so far. The latest installment, "ACT 4," has been serialized since 2018.
To commemorate reaching 100 volumes, various e-book stores will be holding a special fair featuring the series. Volumes 1-10 of both past and latest series will all be available for 100 yen. The fair runs until March 30th.
