It has been announced that "SEKIRO: NO DEFEAT," an anime based on the action-adventure game "SEKIRO: SHADOWS DIE TWICE" (FromSoftware), which depicts the battles of ninjas in the late Sengoku period, will be released nationwide in theaters in 2026. The entire film will be a hand-drawn 2D animation, directed by Kenichi Kutsuna and produced by Qzil.la.
It was also announced that Kenjiro Tsuda Tsuda will reprise his role as Genichiro Ashina, Jin Urayama as the Sculptor, Shizuka Ito as Emma, Yuko Takase as Hanbei, Takaya Hashi as Owl, and Tetsuo Kanae as Isshin Ashina, all of whom also appear in the game. Ryuichi Sakamoto's "Blu" will be the theme song.
A promotional video has also been released that showcases action sequences featuring swords clashing, the poignant yet beautiful lives of the characters, and a unique worldview where the turbulent Sengoku period and the beauty of ancient Japan coexist.
