The first trailer for the TV anime series "Haibara-kun's Strong and New Game," based on the light novel by Amemiya Kazuki from HJ Bunko (Hobby Japan), has been released on YouTube. The story is a "Strong and New Game" school romantic comedy about the protagonist, Haibara Natsuki, who fails at making a good start in high school, but one day time leaps back in time to just before entering high school and starts his high school life all over again. The trailer depicts the "second encounter" and "reunion" between Haibara Natsuki and the heroines, as well as a bittersweet scene from his youth with Hoshimiya Yokari, the girl Natsuki had a crush on in his high school life before the restart.
It was also announced that additional cast members will include Nakamura Kanna as Motomiya Miori, Yamane Aya as Sakura Uta, and Suzushiro Sayumi as Nanase Yuino.
Nakamura, who plays Motomiya Miori, Natsuki's childhood friend with excellent communication skills and athletic ability, said, "Motomiya Miori is able to treat everyone equally and is a reliable person who supports Natsuki when she is in trouble at times. Of course, she also has a side to her that is appropriate for her age...I will be sure to pick up on the emotional changes that occur at each stage and do my best to portray her youth in the work!!"
Yamane, who plays the bright and energetic mood maker Sakura Uta, commented, "Uta is a bright, energetic and honest girl. But deep inside she has a sensitive side that tends to keep things to herself, and there are times when she reads the atmosphere and takes a step back or puts her true feelings on the back burner, so I tried to play the role in a way that would really bring out that gap. I will do my best so that everyone will love her, as she is kind and works hard at everything she does! Please look forward to the broadcast!!"
Suzuyo, who plays Nanase Yuino, Hoshimiya Yokari's childhood friend from elementary school, said, "Yuiino gives off the impression of being an older sister type who watches over everyone. However, towards her particularly close friend Yokari, while she does have an older sister type perspective, there are also portrayals where you can really feel the bond between them as best friends, and I remember thinking that it was a wonderful relationship. Although she appears calm, she also has a surprisingly pretty side, so please look forward to the broadcast to find out! Will Haibara be able to achieve a rainbow-colored youth...?! I would be happy if you could watch over her with us♪."
An advance screening event for the film will be held at United Cinema Toyosu (Koto Ward, Tokyo) on March 15th. Yuto Uemura, who plays Natsuki Haibara, Kanade Takao, who plays Yokari Hoshimiya, and Yamane, who plays Uta Sakura, will be in attendance.
The anime will be directed by Misuzu Hoshino and produced by Studio Comet. It will be broadcast on TBS, BS11, and other stations from April.
