It has been announced that a 4K remaster of the theatrical anime "Macross Plus -MOVIE EDITION-," based on the popular anime "Macross" series, will be screened at 15 theaters, including Toho Cinemas Shinjuku (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo), from March 20th. Special limited edition 4K ULTRA HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc versions, which will be released on March 25th, will be available for pre-sale at the theaters where the film is being screened.
"Macross Plus" was released as an original video animation (OVA) from 1994 to 1995, and an animated feature film was released in 1995. It is a groundbreaking anime that combines cel animation and cutting-edge CG, with Shoji Kawamori serving as general director and in charge of mechanical design. Shinichiro Watanabe served as director, Keiko Nobumoto as scriptwriter, Masayuki Masayuki as original character designer, Ichiro Itano as special effects director, and Yoko Kanno as music composer.
