The latest installment in the Spider-Man series, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day" (directed by Destin Daniel Cretton), starring British actor Tom Holland, will be released simultaneously in Japan and the US on July 31st. It has been announced that Junya Enoki will reprise his role as Spider-Man/Peter Parker in the Japanese dubbed version. It has also been revealed that Atsushi Miyauchi will be joining the cast as Hulk/Bruce Banner, a former Avengers member who fought alongside Spider-Man.
◇ Junya Enoki:"The atmosphere might be a little different from before."
Even though he's been forgotten by his girlfriend MJ, his best friend Ned, and the rest of the world, Peter Parker, as Spider-Man, single-handedly protects the city of New York. Enoki, who voices Peter as he fights with loneliness, has been the Japanese dubbing voice actor for Holland's version of Peter for over 10 years.
Enoki commented on this new chapter, which depicts an adult Peter, saying, "The world surrounding Peter changed drastically at the end of the previous film, so this film may have a slightly different atmosphere than before," expressing his anticipation for the new changes that await Peter. Furthermore, regarding his feelings about playing Spider-Man, he said, "While it is a continuation of the previous film, you will see a new side of Spider-Man as played by Tom Holland, so I would like to approach the dubbing with that in mind. I hope everyone will look forward to its release!"
To unravel the DNA mutation occurring in his own body, Peter relies on Bruce Banner, a brilliant scientist who can transform into the incredibly powerful Hulk. A former member of the Avengers who once saved the world from crisis, he now uses a device to suppress his Hulk powers and avoids transforming while teaching at a university. Peter visits Banner seeking his knowledge of the device. The latest trailer, released recently, showed Banner, transformed into the Hulk, mercilessly attacking Spider-Man. Miyauchi, who plays Bruce, commented with delight, "I am truly honored to be able to voice Bruce Banner again!"
Hulk's rampage has caused confusion and excitement around the world, and Miyauchi said, "I hope to express the overwhelming destructive impulses of the Hulk sleeping within him and the wavering of human reason in a more dramatic way through my voice acting." He added, "Please enjoy Spider-Man and his allies' new battle and Hulk's rampage on the big screen and with the amazing sound in the theater!"
Furthermore, the Japanese voice cast was announced, including Kazumi Makabe, Uronta Yoshida, Takayuki Sakazume, Takayuki Nakatsukasa, Yoko Sawami, Kotono Mitsuishi, Yutaka Aoyama, Satoshi Tsuruoka, Kaede Hondo, Takeo Otsuka, Yohei Azakami, Taito Ban, and Taito Sakamoto.
◇A new chapter begins: Spider-Man faces the threat and trials of an "invisible enemy."
The latest installment in the series, the first in five years, is a new chapter following the trilogy starring Holland: "Spider-Man: Homecoming" (2017), "Spider-Man: Far From Home" (2019), and "Spider-Man: No Way Home" (2021).
Four years after the events of the previous film, "Spider-Man: No Way Home," Peter Parker, also known as Spider-Man (Holland), has made the ultimate sacrifice to keep his loved ones safe from danger by erasing all memories of him from people around the world. He continues to protect New York City alone as the "friendly neighborhood" Spider-Man. One day, his DNA mutates, causing physical changes that threaten his life, and inexplicable crimes begin to occur frequently in the city. The threat and trials of an "invisible enemy" loom...
The trailer for "Spider-Man: Brand New Day," which premiered worldwide in March and garnered over 1 billion views in just four days, will be released nationwide on July 31st, distributed by Sony Pictures Entertainment.
◇Comment from Junya Enoki(Peter Parker/Spider-Man)
Since Peter's world changed dramatically at the end of the previous film, this film might have a slightly different atmosphere than previous installments.
While it's a continuation of the original story, you'll get to see a new side of Spider-Man as portrayed by Tom Holland, so I'd like to approach the dubbing with that in mind. I hope you all look forward to its release!
◇Comment from Atsushi Miyauchi (voice of Bruce Banner/Hulk)
I am truly honored to be able to voice Bruce Banner once again! In this film, Banner is a great confidant of Peter, but he himself faces his greatest crisis. I hope to express the overwhelming destructive impulse of the Hulk that lies dormant within him, as well as the wavering of his human reason, in a more dramatic way through my voice acting.
