The second episode of the NHK premium drama "In the Town Where Forget-Me-Nots Bloom ~Azumino Medical Records~" (BS, Sundays at 10pm), starring actress Riko Fukumoto, will air on July 5th. Young nurse Mikoto (Fukumoto) and new intern doctor Shotaro (Arata Sugo) are tasked with dealing with the sudden deterioration of Nagasaka (Hiroshi Nagano), who is battling terminal pancreatic cancer.
In the same internal medicine ward, Mikoto was struggling to deal with Shinmura (Kayoko Shiraishi), an elderly patient hospitalized with aspiration pneumonia who refused to eat anything. Meanwhile, Nagasaka, who had been able to resume chemotherapy after an endoscopic procedure, took a turn for the worse again. Mikoto was then put in a difficult position regarding the treatment of VIP patients.
The drama is based on a medical novel by Sosuke Natsukawa, known for works such as "God's Medical Chart." Set in a hospital in Azumino, Shinshu, it depicts a year in the life of a third-year nurse and a new intern as they grapple with the realities of regional healthcare facing a serious aging population. Fukumoto plays Mikoto Tsukioka, a positive heroine who is in her third year working as a nurse at a hospital that supports regional healthcare in Azumino, and who diligently builds upon what she can do.
