It was announced on June 29th that the theatrical version of WOWOW's special program "TUBE 40th Anniversary Live & Documentary ~A Voyage of 40 Years~," commemorating the 40th anniversary of the rock band TUBE, will be released nationwide on August 28th. The film will be a complete version of the special program that aired and streamed on June 28th, with previously unreleased scenes added. While there have been live viewings in theaters and a one-night-only screening of the short film "Nagisa no Koibitotachi," this will be TUBE's first feature-length film.
TUBE debuted on June 1, 1985, with "Bestseller Summer." They have continued to color Japanese summers with numerous songs such as "Season in the Sun," "Ah, Summer Vacation," "Glass Memories," and "Embrace Summer," and celebrated their 40th anniversary in 2025.
The film closely follows the band's 40th anniversary year, which began with their first performance in 20 years in Waikiki, Hawaii, on their debut anniversary, June 1, 2025. Furthermore, it captures the 36th "Hamasta Summer Festival Live" held at their "sacred ground," Yokohama Stadium (Naka Ward, Yokohama City), with numerous guests, a surprise session with Tetsuro Oda, the final show of their 40-show national tour, and their performance in Okinawa in May. The film weaves together these special live performances, made possible only because of their 40th anniversary, with the thoughts of the four members behind the scenes, through live footage, behind-the-scenes stories, and the words of each member.
The released poster visual features the four members against the backdrop of their memorable 40th-anniversary concert at Yokohama Stadium, accompanied by the tagline, "We've overcome countless summers together."
The trailer begins with "Season in the Sun" and leads into "Keep On Sailin'," a key song for this film, and is filled with gratitude to the fans.
