The second episode of the Tuesday drama "Toki Sude ni Osushi!?" (TBS, Tuesdays at 10 PM), starring actress Hiromi Nagasaku, aired on April 14th. A singing scene by Yumiko Udo, who plays Izumi Isoda, Minato's (Nagasaku's) best friend, caused a stir on social media.
◇The following contains spoilers.
The drama tells the story of Minato Machiyama, who, having finished raising her children, is bewildered by the "time to herself" she finally has at the age of 50, but begins her second life and jumps into a "Sushi Academy" where she can become a sushi chef in three months. This is Udo's first time doing serious acting and her first appearance in a TV drama series.
Izumi is a Pilates instructor and the one who invited Minato to the "Sushi Academy." However, she fell and suffered a serious injury before enrolling, so she did not end up enrolling in the "Sushi Academy."
"Men and women are sad, when you combine their two lonelinesses, Wow Wow Jealousy~"
One day, Izumi was at a karaoke bar, passionately singing Checkers' "Kanashikute Jealousy," even showing off the choreography and livening up the place.
As Minato looked at Izumi with a cold gaze, Ranko (played by Nekozawa Tsubaki), the owner of the snack bar, said, "She can't do Pilates for a while, so it seems she's going to earn money by singing."
Udo also showcased her singing voice in the first episode. Social media was buzzing with comments such as, "Announcer Udo is singing with so much enthusiasm," "Udo is making money by singing!", "Udo is perfect for the role," and "Will we get to hear Udo sing karaoke every week?"
