The second episode of " Akinaiseiden Kin to Gin 3," the third season of the NHK BS historical drama starring actress Fuka Koshiba (NHK BS Premium 4K, Sundays at 6:45 PM), will air on April 12th. The subtitle of this episode is "The Outcast." Gosuzuya is declared an outcast, and his path to doing business in the kimono trade in Edo is cut short.
" Akinaiseiden Kin to Gin" is a series set in the mid-Edo period that vividly and cheerfully depicts the lives of ordinary people who succeed in business through hard work and ingenuity, interwoven with a variety of customs and traditions. Season 1 aired in 2023, and Season 2 aired in 2025.
Season 3 will once again feature Sachiko (played by Koshiba), the seventh-generation owner of Gosuzuya, a kimono and fabric store that opened in Tawaramachi, Asakusa, Edo. As Sachiko's struggle to protect Gosuzuya reaches its climax, she will also arrive at a realization of something irreplaceable.
In the second episode, Yui's (played by Itsuki Nagasawa) opening of the Nihonbashi Kimono Shop Masugoya coincides with the launch of Gosuzuya's zodiac patterned kimonos. As Sachi had hoped, the zodiac patterned kimonos also capture the hearts of male customers. One day, a samurai named Yano (played by Toshiya Toyama) visits the shop and buys 100 bolts of white crepe fabric, causing Gosuzuya to be thrilled with a huge sale. However, at a gathering of fellow kimono merchants, it is revealed that Yano is a retainer of the Kaga Maeda family and a customer of Enshuya, another kimono merchant.
Stealing customers is the ultimate taboo. Gosuzuya is ostracized, and their path to becoming a kimono merchant in Edo is cut short...
