Singer Kenichi Mikawa will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which airs at 1 PM on April 13th.
She passionately sang "Ikiru" (To Live) in the studio, a song she said she felt she could sing with more meaning now than ever before. Last September, she was diagnosed with sick sinus syndrome, a condition where the heart doesn't function properly, and underwent surgery to have a pacemaker implanted. She said that walking had been a little difficult for her for several years.
He learned of his illness last August when he lost consciousness and collapsed while in Los Angeles. After returning to Japan, he underwent surgery, and after thorough examinations during his hospital stay, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. He was initially devastated to learn that it is a designated intractable disease in which there is no fundamental cure. He dedicated himself to training, including weight training, and three months after his surgery, he made his comeback at a joint concert with Korokke. On that day, he was moved to tears by the voices of "Welcome back" from the audience.
