A stage greeting event celebrating the release of " Detective Conan: Fallen Angel on the Highway," the latest theatrical film in the popular anime series "Detective Conan, " based on the manga by Gosho Aoyama , was held on April 11th at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo). Miyuki Sawashiro, the voice actress who plays the main character Chihaya Hagiwara in the film, made an appearance. Sawashiro spoke about her feelings on taking on the role of Chihaya Hagiwara, a role previously played by Atsuko Tanaka, who passed away in August 2024.
Sawashiro said, "I played the role of Chihaya Hagiwara. I was entrusted with the role by Mr. Aoyama and by my beloved Atsuko Tanaka, and I am appearing in the movie. This is my first time standing in front of 'Conan' fans, and I can feel how much everyone loves 'Conan' as I'm here. I am very happy to be a part of this culture."
Chihaya Hagiwara is a motorcycle officer in the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Traffic Mobile Unit and a popular character also known as the "Goddess of Wind." Sawashiro commented on playing Chihaya Hagiwara, saying, "I didn't think I could manage it all by myself, but more than I expected, I was able to run through it because Conan-kun was there, and I was able to complete it because Shigeo (Yokomizo) was there, and I feel like I wouldn't have even started if Kenji (Hagiwara) hadn't been there. I used to think that being invincible was something you had to do with all your might, but I realized while working on set that it's something that someone else does for you. It was a personal highlight for me, and it changed my perspective."
The stage greeting featured Minami Takayama(voice of Conan Edogawa), Rikiya Koyama (voice of Kogoro Mouri), Akio Otsuka Otsuka (voice of Shigeo Yokomizo), Shinichiro Miki (voice of Kenji Hagiwara), Ryusei Yokohama (Mei Hata Hata (voice of Minato Tateoki), and director Takahiro Hasui.
The 29th film in the series, "Fallen Angel on the Highway," opened on April 10th in 526 theaters, the largest release in the series' history. This surpasses the 522 theaters for the previous film. On its opening day, it grossed 1.13 billion yen and attracted over 739,000 viewers. This is approximately 107% of the box office revenue of "Detective Conan: One-Eyed Flashback," which was released last year and grossed approximately 14.74 billion yen, marking the biggest hit opening in the series' history.
In "The Fallen Angel of the Highway," the setting is Yokohama, where Conan and his friends are visiting the Kanagawa Motorcycle Festival when a mysterious black motorcycle suddenly appears, speeding out of control. Chasing it is Chihaya Hagiwara, a police officer from the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Traffic Mobile Unit, whom Ran had seen before and known as the "Goddess of Wind." Later at the festival, the latest technology-equipped police motorcycle, "Angel," is unveiled. Meanwhile, in Tokyo, a black motorcycle ("Lucifer") goes on a rampage.
