The car-enthusiast comedy duo "Ogiyahagi" explores the "car history" of their guests in "Ogiyahagi's Car History: NO CAR, NO LIFE!" (BS Nippon Television, Saturdays at 9 PM). Former F1 driver Satoru Nakajima will be the guest on the April 11th broadcast.
Among Mr. Nakajima's car history are as many as 11 Honda Legends, and when the first Legend was released in 1985, Mr. Nakajima was thrilled, saying, "This is the first full-size sedan."
When the first-generation Legend appeared, Nakajima reminisced, "Was it this low?" and "I remember this seat!" Starting with the first-generation Legend, a niche car of which only five are currently sold in Japan, he shared stories about his time living in the UK and some special anecdotes about Honda's founder, Soichiro Honda.
Having retired as an F1 driver, Nakajima serves as the general manager of his own team, "NAKAJIMA RACING," dedicating himself to team management and training the next generation of drivers. However, he also reveals the harsh reality of driver training, saying, "We narrow it down to eight people and train all eight, but only one or two remain."
Both of his sons have gone on to become drivers, and when Ogi and Yahagi ask if he received some kind of gifted education, Nakajima gives a surprising remark and also reveals little-known anecdotes about his sons, saying that "their parents were the ones who had to be considerate."
