Kotaro Uegaki, an announcer in his third year at Fuji Television, made his debut as a horse racing commentator on April 5th, on the same day's broadcast of the network's horse racing program "Minna no KEIBA" (Sundays at 3 PM).
Uegaki is an announcer who, from her first year at the company, became a topic of conversation due to her calm speaking style, with people saying, "She's a newcomer, but she has too much presence!" She has often spoken of her passionate desire to do horse racing commentary, and this will be her long-awaited debut.
Uegaki made her "first appearance" as a horse racing commentator during the Miho Stakes, the main race at Nakayama Racecourse. With Yuuchami, who was born in the same year (2001), watching from the studio, Uegaki, who said she didn't bet on the race this time because she wanted to concentrate on the commentary, handled the commentary flawlessly. When the second favorite, Juta, crossed the finish line in first place, it was sold for a high price of 320 million yen at the Select Sale, and Uegaki celebrated her debut by incorporating data on Juta, who was winning for the first time in about a year.
Yuuchami, who was watching the race, praised him highly, but announcer Uegaki commented, "I was nervous. I was tense." Reflecting on his first race commentary, he said, "I think there's something I need to reflect on."
