The third season of the NHK BS historical drama " Akinaiseiden Kin to Gin 3" (NHK BS Premium 4K, Sundays at 6:45 PM), starring actress Fuka Koshiba , will begin airing on April 5th. In this new season, the first in a year, the drama of Sachi, played by Koshiba, fighting to protect the Gosuzuya business is finally reaching its climax. " Akinaiseiden Kin to Gin" is a series set in the mid-Edo period that vividly and cheerfully depicts the lives of ordinary people who succeed in business through hard work and ingenuity, interwoven with a variety of customs and traditions. Season 1 aired in 2023, and Season 2 aired in 2025.
Season 3 also centers on Sachi, the seventh-generation owner of Gosuzuya, a kimono and fabric shop that opened in Edo's Asakusa Tawaramachi. One windy day, Sachi (played by Koshiba), her younger sister Yui (played by Nagasawa Itsuki), and her shop assistant Kensuke (played by Sakuma Yu) are on their way to the home of dyer Rikizo (played by Ikeda Tsutomu) to have a pattern made for a new kimono design when an incident occurs, which drastically changes the fate of Sachi and Gosuzuya...
Kazuya Takahashi will play the role of Umematsu, a woodcarver specializing in Ise-katagami (Ise stencil paper) and kiribori (piercing), and Yohei Isshiki will play the role of Seiji, a woodcarver specializing in Ise-katagami and tsukibori (thrusting), who looks up to his older brother Umematsu.
The subtitle of the first episode is "The Bride of Yui". It is the fourth year of the Hōreki era (1754). Gosuzuya Edo store is thriving with sales of Edo komon (small patterned kimono fabric). Then, Umematsu (Takahashi), an Ise katagami (paper stencil) carver, arrives. Sachi, who wishes to establish komon dyeing in Edo, wants to create a new komon pattern that suits both men and women. One day, Kabuki actor Eijiro (Kazama Morio) visits the store. She gets an idea to use the characters of the Chinese zodiac from the calendar he brings as a gift to make a komon pattern.
However, on the night the stencil for the zodiac pattern was completed, Yui disappeared from Gosuzuya...
