Nashiko Momotsuki, who is active as an actress and model, appeared on the talk variety show "What to do at the second bar? ~Stories about snacks~" (TV Tokyo, Saturdays at 12:55 AM) which aired late at night on April 4th, and talked about her occupation before she started her career in entertainment.
Momotsuki had previously co-starred with MC Masahiro Matsuoka in the drama "Shishokujo" (TV Tokyo, 2019). When Matsuoka asked her how old she was when she moved to Tokyo, she revealed, "I'm 30 now, but I moved when I was 22 or 23. (Before that) I was working as a nurse," surprising Matsuoka who exclaimed, "You were serious?!"
Momotsuki explained, "I was working in a hospital ward, including night shifts. And as a hobby, I was doing cosplay. It went viral, and I was approached by my current agency, which led to me working in the entertainment industry."
She said that she quit her job at the hospital when she started her entertainment career, explaining, "My hospital prohibited side jobs. I had no choice but to quit... I didn't really want to quit at all, to be honest."
"My very first job was a photoshoot for a magazine. I thought that the photos would be displayed in hospitals, and that patients might even buy them, so I apologized to my boss, saying, 'I'm sorry, but I've been offered a debut job...'" she recalled.
When Matsuoka asked, "Was it that easy to give up?", she replied, "I thought that if I had the qualification, I could work anywhere, so if it didn't work out, I could just come back! (laughs). I was diligent at work, so everyone on the ward congratulated me and told me to 'do my best.' It seems like they're still supporting me, and I'm very grateful."
