It has been revealed that two new characters, Awawaneko and Yobi, will be appearing in the popular Rilakkuma TV anime series.
AwawaNeko is a cat with a cat-shaped appliqué on its belly, and a popular streamer and video creator specializing in food and travel. It can go anywhere on its own and is very independent. Yobi is a wobbly, bipedal seal. It drifts around seeking warmth and can be found in all sorts of places.
The theme song, "stay with me," sung by Rira Ikuta, began streaming on various music distribution services on April 4th. Ikuta also provides the narration for the anime.
Rilakkuma is a popular character from San-X, with the first line of merchandise released in 2003. Anime series such as "Rilakkuma and Kaoru" and "Rilakkuma and the Amusement Park" have also been produced.
The TV anime is directed by Masami Itazu for the first part and Yumi Kamakura for the second part, and is produced by Production I.G., known for the "Ghost in the Shell" series and "Haikyu!!". It began airing on TBS on April 4th.
