It has been announced that the third season of the TV anime "Frieren: Beyond Journey's End End," based on the manga serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan), will be produced and broadcast on Nippon Television Network starting in October 2027. The "Golden Land Arc" is a popular storyline that begins with chapter 81, which is included in volume 9 of the original manga, and a teaser visual has been released featuring "Mahat of the Golden Land," a demon known as "the last and strongest of the Seven Sages of Collapse."
The 38th and final episode of the second season, "A Beautiful Scene," aired on March 27th on Nippon Television's anime block "FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT (FuraAni)." The final scene depicted Denken, a first-class wizard who also appeared in the "First Class Mage Exam Arc" of the first season, gazing from afar at his hometown which had turned to gold. In the third season, Frieren and her companions will confront "Mahat of the Golden City."
"Frieren: Beyond Journey's End" is a manga written by Kanehito Yamada and illustrated by Tsukasa Abe, which began serialization in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" in April 2020. Frieren, the mage of the hero's party who defeated the Demon King, is an elf and therefore long-lived, but after experiencing the death of her companions, she embarks on a journey "to understand humanity." It was selected for the Manga Taisho Award 2021, the New Artist Award at the 25th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Prize, the 69th (2023) Shogakukan Manga Award, and the Shonen category at the 48th Kodansha Manga Award. The cumulative circulation of the comic books exceeds 35 million copies.
The first season of the TV anime aired on Nippon Television's anime block "FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT" from September 2023 to March 2024. The second season began airing in the same block in January.
