On March 27, Koizumi Bon, the great-grandson of Yakumo Koizumi and director of the Yakumo Koizumi Memorial Museum (Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture), attended a "viewing party for the final episode" of the serial television drama "Bakebake" (NHK General, Monday-Saturday 8:00 AM, etc.) held at NHK Matsue Broadcasting Station (Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture). He shared his thoughts after watching the drama to the very end.
Koizumi commented, "After Heaven (Tommy Bastow) passes away, the scene where Toki (Akari Takaishi) begins to talk about her memories of Heaven while struggling with her feelings made me think that this must have been how Setsu, the model for Toki, truly felt inside." She also explained, "In this drama, the 'walk' mentioned in the theme song lyrics is an important scene, and I've heard that Yakumo and Setsu actually often went for walks together, sometimes with their son."
"Yakumo Koizumi's former residence in Matsue, which has been recreated as a set for the drama, has been bustling with activity since the drama began airing. Over the past six months, I've been invited to give lectures all over the country, and I really feel that the drama and the stories of Yakumo Koizumi and Setsu have spread throughout the nation," he said, expressing his delight at the overwhelming response.
"I received various consultations from the very beginning of production on this drama, so I feel like we ran through it together. I think the friendly atmosphere of the production team, including the cast, was conveyed to the viewers," he said.
Actor Rairu Sugita, who plays the role of Joe Nishikiori, also attended the "viewing party for the final episode."
