Shigeaki Kato of the popular group "NEWS" will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on March 27th at 1 PM. Kato, who is active as an idol, actor, and author, will be making his first appearance on the show in six years.
NEWS will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2028. Kato says that he has keenly felt the difficulty of "continuing" while overcoming changes in the group's structure. Kato has always sought to find what he can do as an idol, and has also been active as a writer, being nominated for the Naoki Prize. In 2023, he wrote his first novel dealing with war, tackling a social theme. Last year, he wrote a charity novel to support the recovery efforts after the Noto Peninsula earthquake.
