Anna Nakagawa, a former NHK announcer and currently a freelance announcer, appeared on the talk variety show "Nikenme Dosuru? ~Tsumami no Hanashi~" (TV Tokyo, etc., Saturday midnight 12:55), which aired on March 7th. She revealed the "unique rules" of her alma mater, Keio University.
Nakagawa-san grew up in Puerto Rico from the age of 10. He entered Keio University's affiliated high school through the "returnee student quota," explaining, "If you enter at a young age, like in kindergarten, you're considered an 'internal' student, but if you enter in high school, you're considered an 'outside' student. Then new people enter from university, and then the people who entered from high school start calling the people who entered from university 'outside'... it's a little complicated."
MC Masahiro Matsuoka was surprised, saying, "Wow! So there are relationships like that." He then quipped, "Yukicchan, you're supposed to 'put no one above another,'" quoting the words of Yukichi Fukuzawa, the university's founder, drawing laughter.
