It has been announced that actor Shiro Ito will be appearing in the Saturday drama "Goodbye Hospital 2," which will be broadcast on NHK General TV. Ito, now 88, will play Masasuke Anzai, a former prefectural assemblyman who is 100 years old and suffers from drowsiness and partial dementia, and has suddenly become weaker in recent weeks.
This is a soulful drama about nurse Henmi Ayumu (Kishii Yukino) and doctor Hirono Seiji (Matsuyama Kenichi) working with patients and their families in a hospital ward closest to death to help them "live to the end in their own way." The script is written by Naoko Adachi , known for "Transparent Cradle" and " Okaeri Mone " (both NHK dramas).
Yasui, played by Ito, is always surrounded by his family and former supporters, and appears to have a gentle personality, but he asks a nurse named Henmi for a favor...
Ito commented, "I'm 88 years old now, and the role of a hospitalized patient who loves to give speeches came up. Of course I accepted, because it sounded interesting. There are interactions with the young doctor, conflicts with the patient in the next bed, etc. Please be sure to watch it!"
Other cast members announced include Watanabe Eri as snack bar hostess Hayashi Mie, YOU as Sakurada Mimi, a bestselling author and terminal pancreatic cancer patient, Hirooka Yuriko as Sakurada's editor Akiyama Shinobu, Agawa Sawako as Kadokawa Chiyoko, who has been transferred to another hospital in the hopes of receiving end-of-life palliative care, and Emoto Akira as Chiyoko's husband Kadokawa Saburo.
The first part will be broadcast on General TV from 10:00 PM on April 4th, and the second part will be broadcast on April 11th from 10:00 PM. On BS Premium 4K, the first part will be broadcast on March 22nd from 6:45 PM, and the second part will be broadcast on March 29th from 6:45 PM.
