Meanwhile, Nobunaga suspects his nephew Nobusumi (Atsushi Ogata) of colluding with Chosokabe and plotting a rebellion, and orders him to stay under house arrest. After hearing the whole story from Mitsuhide and understanding Nobunaga's distress, Koichiro (Nakano) and Hideyoshi (Sosuke Ikematsu) invite Nobunaga and Oichi (Aoi Miyazaki) to Nagahama Castle, where the entire Hashiba family entertains them.

Towards the end, Nobusumi learns that Mitsuhide has forgiven him, but at that time, he makes a threatening remark, saying that if the official letter that Mitsuhide received from Ashikaga Yoshiaki (played by Onoe Ukon) is found, Nobunaga will not forgive him.
Mitsuhide, who had been ordered to assassinate Nobunaga by that letter, was surprised and flustered that Nobusumi knew its contents, but then Nobusumi confessed, "I am the one who wrote that." The episode ended with Mitsuhide speechless, and the next episode, episode 27, was announced as "The Honnoji Incident."
