The TV anime "LIAR GAME," based on the popular manga by Shinobu Kaitani, which has also been adapted into a drama and a movie, will enter its second season starting July 6th. Additional cast members for the second season have been announced, and it has been revealed that Natsuki Hanae will play Yokoya Norihiko, one of the participants in the Liar Game.
Yokoya Norihiko may seem like a quiet young man at first glance, but he is extremely proud and possesses a strong desire for control. He skillfully manipulates the psychology of his opponents, using fear and reward to bring them under his control. Hanae commented, "I am very happy to be able to play Yokoya, an important character in Liar Game. There are still many things I cannot tell everyone, but he is a very rewarding character to play, and the recording sessions were very fulfilling and enjoyable, making me feel that there is still so much more I can express. Please look forward to seeing what kind of strategies he will use to stand in the way of Nao and Akiyama!"
It was also announced that Junya Hirano will play Akagi Kota, Tomohiro Yamaguchi will play Ikezoe Kenji, Kengo Tsujii will play Shibayama Yusuke, Reigo Yamaguchi will play Tajima Kakeru, Ryumaru Tachibana will play Tsumura Akira, Kikunosuke Toya Fujiwara will play Hasegawa Hiroshi, Shinya Takahashi, and Shinya Takahashi will play Wada Tatsuji.
The artists performing the theme songs for the second season have also been announced. It has been revealed that the band "Kroi" will be in charge of the opening theme "All in," and the band "muque" will be in charge of the ending theme "Tarinai."
A key visual featuring characters such as Kanzaki Nao, Akiyama Shinichi, and Yokoya Norihiko, along with a promotional video using excerpts from the opening and ending themes, have been released.
"LIAR GAME" is a manga series that was serialized in "Weekly Young Jump" (Shueisha) from 2005 to 2015. It is a suspense story depicting how Kanzaki Nao, an honest female college student, gets caught up in the Liar Game, a game where people compete for huge sums of money through lies and tricks, and how she and Akiyama Shinichi, a former genius con artist, manage to win the game. It was adapted into a drama series in 2007 starring Matsuda Shota and Toda Erika, with a second season airing in 2009. Movies were released in 2010 and 2012. It has also been adapted into a stage play.
The anime is being produced by Madhouse, with Yuzo Sato serving as general director and Asami Kawano as director. It has been airing on TV Tokyo and other networks since April.
