The anime series "Puella Magi Madoka Magica" and "Detective Precure!", the 23rd installment of the "Precure" anime series, collaborated at the "Chayamachi Oshi Festival 2026" event held on June 21st in the Chayamachi area of Umeda, Osaka. The collaboration was realized because both "Puella Magi Madoka Magica" and "Detective Precure!" feature "friends who transform and do their best."
At the "Chayamachi Oshi Festival 2026," a mini-stage event for the theatrical anime " Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgis Night" was held, with Kaname Madoka and Akemi Homura from "Puella Magi Madoka Magica" appearing on stage. In a surprise appearance, Cure Answer, Cure Mystic, and Cure Arcana Shadow from "Detective Precure!" appeared, and the five of them performed a dance to the ending theme of "Detective Precure!", "Why? Mystery?! ANSWER".
Madoka and Homura, who had never danced before, showed the results of their practice by performing a well-coordinated dance that livened up the event. A video of their dance has been released on YouTube.
"Puella Magi Madoka Magica" is an original anime series depicting magical girls burdened with harsh destinies, and the TV anime aired in 2011. Directed by Akiyuki Shinbo and produced by Shaft, it boasts a star-studded staff including Ume Aoki for character designs, Gen Urobuchi for the script, and Yuki Kajiura for the music. While the visuals have a gentle touch, its profound world setting and dramatic plot developments garnered it popularity. " Puella Magi Madoka Magica the Movie: Walpurgisnacht" is the "legitimate sequel" to "[New Edition] Rebellion Story." The staff, including general director Shinbo and scriptwriter Urobuchi, have reunited for this project. It will be released on August 28th.
The motif of "Detective Precure!" is "detective," and the theme is "seeing, feeling, and thinking for yourself to find the 'real' answer." The main characters are girls who work as detectives with the desire to "help people in need," and guided by a mysterious power, the main character time-slips from the present day of 2027 to 1999. The story depicts new encounters, friendships, and growth for the Precure across time. The TV anime is currently airing every Sunday at 8:30 a.m. on ABC TV and TV Asahi.
