Shingo Katori attended the Japan premiere red carpet party for the film "Michael" (directed by Antoine Fuqua, released on June 12th) held in Tokyo on June 4th. As a special guest who is a huge fan of Michael Jackson, he also appeared at the stage event.
Katori recalled, "In 1988, when I was 10 years old, I got to see a live performance at Tokyo Dome from the front row. At that time, I made eye contact with Michael on stage, and I thought, 'This is what I want to do. I want to shine on stage like Michael, and make others shine too.' After that, I was able to perform a live show at Tokyo Dome myself."
He continued, "After that, Michael came on our show as a guest, and it was an incredible surprise. When I met Michael in person, he was even bigger, more loving, and kinder than I had imagined. Michael Jackson is very important to me. This time, I was able to see the movie and meet Michael. I was truly moved and excited, and it felt like it rekindled the excitement and emotion that Michael Jackson taught me."
Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop," transcended the boundaries of an artist with his overwhelming vocal ability and groundbreaking dance performances, becoming a global icon. This film depicts the "moments of creation" of young Michael as he rose to global stardom, the loneliness that came with his talent, and his struggles between his father's control and his own ideals as he created numerous hit songs.
The film is a musical entertainment piece that depicts the life of Michael Jackson, the one and only entertainer who created "Thriller," the best-selling album in human history, and the "moonwalk," and was known as the "King of Pop."
The stage event featured Jafar Jackson, Michael's real-life nephew who plays the lead role; Giuliano Vardi, who played young Michael; producer Graham King; and singer-songwriter and rapper Chanmina.
Among those who appeared on the red carpet were Hideyuki Nakayama, Ryoko Yonekura, Mandy Sekiguchi, and Prince Jackson, Michael Jackson's eldest son.
