A press conference to announce the completion of WOWOW's "Continuous Drama W: Consultant - The Man Who Writes About Death -" was held in Tokyo on June 4th, and lead actor Kentaro Ito made an appearance. In keeping with the theme of the story, in which the protagonist Yo Izaki, played by Ito, has his life changed after meeting a mysterious man, Akifumi Kurokawa (played by GACKT), Ito revealed an encounter that "significantly changed his life."
Ito replied, "My friends from my hometown," and said that meeting with her hometown friends "makes me feel very at ease. They stay with me with the same feeling I had when we first met. Everyone is working hard in their own fields, so of course I get inspiration from them, and I've been feeling especially grateful lately that I met them. That feeling gets stronger as I get older."
The event also featured appearances by Fumino Kimura, who plays Saki Mizuhata, a beautiful manager sent by the mysterious organization "Company" to monitor Izaki; GACKT, who plays Akihiko Kurokawa, a mysterious man who tries to lead Izaki down a path of evil; and Hideo Nakata, the main director.
The drama is a dark suspense series based on the novel "The Consultant" by Im Sung-soon. Izaki, an unremarkable man aspiring to be a mystery novelist, is dragged into a mysterious organization called "The Company" and transformed into an assassination consultant, writing "perfect assassination scenarios" that no one will notice. However, he gradually becomes entangled in an overwhelming evil and finds himself with no escape. This is WOWOW's first dramatization of a K-literature (Korean literature) work, and the directors are Nakata and Yoshinori Kobayashi, known for the "Unfair" series (Fuji TV).
It will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW Prime and WOWOW On Demand starting June 7th at 10 PM. It will consist of 6 episodes, with the first episode being free to watch and stream.
