Kabuki actor Kikugoro Onoe VIII will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), airing on June 1st at 1 PM.
He assumed the name Kikugoro last May. He says that with this succession, friends from his student days, with whom he hadn't had much contact before, came to see his performances and held celebration parties for him. This has led to new friendships, such as going mountain climbing together.
At the same time, his 12-year-old son's classmate, who also inherited the name Kikunosuke, came to see the show. This has been a great source of encouragement for his son. During his long name-inheritance performances, he took a trip with his son, just the two of them. They even traveled all the way to Hokkaido to see their favorite artist.
