"Detective! Night Scoop" (ABC TV, Fridays at 11:17 PM) is a popular variety show where "detectives" tackle bizarre requests and worries submitted by viewers. On May 29th, Detective Yasushi Ishida investigated a golden plastic bottle found lying on a highway. Actor Kazuki Kitamura made his first appearance on the show as the special director, with Takanori Takeyama as assistant director and Saori Masuda as secretary.
The request came from a 48-year-old man from Shiga Prefecture. The man, who frequently uses the highway for work, often sees discarded plastic bottles. Over 90% of these bottles contain liquid, and for some reason, they are all yellow.
Why is it only the yellow liquid...? I made this request because I wanted to find out the truth about this mystery that has been bothering me for years. I also hope that this request will lead to fewer people throwing away plastic bottles.
As they began their search on the highway, they discovered yellow plastic bottles one after another. After obtaining permission to search service areas, they found even more yellow plastic bottles... Night Scoop investigates the mystery of the golden plastic bottles.

Greeted by loud cheers and applause, Director Kitamura read his opening remarks and introduced himself with a self-deprecating joke, saying, "I'm Kazuki Kitamura, and my selling point is my refreshing image," which seemed to dispel his "intense" image. Being from Osaka, the occasional Kansai dialect he used was refreshing.
Regarding Night Scoop, he said, "I've been watching it quite a bit since Director Kamioka (Ryutaro) was in charge," and then, in his unique way of speaking, added, "It's the kind of show that could be there or not. But then again, I'd be sad if it disappeared... I think it's an important program in this day and age."
He said that he never imagined appearing on the show because they work in different genres, but "I happened to meet Ken Maeda and told him I watch his show, and he immediately said, 'Please come on the show.'" He then explained, "I came as instructed (laughs)."
In the closing remarks, Director Kitamura praised the show, saying, "It was truly wonderful. I am honored to be a part of this socially conscious program, and although I initially said something like, 'It's a program that can be done with or without,' I now realize that it is an indispensable program," before leaving the studio.
