It has been announced that "Isshiki-san Wants to Know About Love," a TV anime based on the manga by Shuichiro Umeda Araragi currently serialized in "Shonen Ace" (KADOKAWA), will begin airing in January 2027. Riko Akechi will play the role of Rinna Isshiki, an elite police inspector known as "Steel," and Shuichiro Umeda will play the role of Meishi Rokutanda, a clumsy detective. It was also announced that Kazuya Komai will direct the series, and Sakura Create will produce the animation.
Akechi commented, "During recording, there were moments when I realized a new side of myself through casual conversation. The experience of getting to know a new side of yourself through interacting with people is invaluable. I felt this more and more as I watched Rinna, who was initially so rigid, grow as she encountered 'love' through her interactions with Meishi. And for me, Rinna is also the character who fulfilled my dream of 'playing a character whose name is in the title.' This romantic comedy follows Rinna Isshiki, a straitlaced, elite police officer who became a inspector at the age of 17 and has no experience with love, and Meishi Rokutanda, a kind but clumsy and incompetent detective, as they become a pseudo-couple and learn about love. It has been serialized in "Shonen Ace" since August 2020.
